#1 - Sustainable Algae Innovation for a Greener Tomorrow

Mixotrophic Cultivation of Galdieria sulphuraria

For Biofuel & High-Value Bioproducts

Our flagship innovation focuses on the mixotrophic biomass production of the acidophilic extremophile Galdieria sulphuraria — a microalga  strain renowned for its resilience in extreme environments and its capacity to generate valuable bioproducts such as biofuels and phycocyanin.

Our Innovation: Mixotrophic Excellence

We have developed a scalable, two-phase mixotrophic cultivation process that significantly increases productivity:

  • Up to 4 g/L biomass yield (dry weight)
  • 70–100% increase in lipid productivity over traditional methods
  • Record-breaking phycocyanin productivity (up to 10% of dry weight)
  • Effective CO₂ capture and wastewater valorization

Key Advantages

  • Sustainability: Reduced carbon footprint and resource usage through wastewater integration and nutrient recycling.
  • Cost Efficiency: Estimated 30–50% reduction in production and raw material costs.
  • Versatility: Simultaneous production of biofuel-grade lipids and high-value pigments like C-phycocyanin for food, pharma, and cosmetics.
  • Climate Action: Enhanced CO₂ sequestration capacity (up to 500g/m²/day)

#2 - Algae-Based Consultation Services for a Leading Textile Manufacturer in Pakistan

C

A major textile manufacturer in Pakistan

  • Description: A strategic collaboration to evaluate and implement algae production systems in South Asia.
  • Status: Feasibility Phase Completed | Pilot Trials Upcoming

ProAlgaeTech has successfully completed the first phase of a strategic algae consultation project aimed at transforming industrial wastewater treatment in Pakistan’s textile sector. The collaboration focused on sustainable solutions using microalgae to treat complex wastewater streams with high Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).

Our team provided end-to-end services, starting from strain selection to the design of an open pond system capable of treating 50,000 liters of wastewater per day. The project covered site assessment, species optimization, technical advisory for photobioreactor systems, and a roadmap for large-scale algae-based production. We also delivered a detailed feasibility report, training module, and business plan recommendations. With the feasibility study and pond design now complete, pilot trials are set to begin shortly, bringing this project one step closer to scalable, nature-based wastewater treatment.
